Why these people need your help
Oyugis is a village of about a thousand inhabitants that lies in Nyanza province, the westernmost and poorest of Kenya's eight provinces. Most of the people who inhabit Nyanza are totally dependent on the crops they grow. The province has been farmed for over three thousand years but without any replenishment of the soil. As a result, the soil of Nyanza is extremely poor. In addition, farmers of Nyanza have historically lacked draft animals and mechanized farming equipment as well as knowledge of modern farming methods. Understandably, crop yields have been extremely low -- insufficient to provide adequate sustenance. These conditions have resulted in starvation for many inhabitants. Hearts4Kenya exists solely to provide the people of Oyugis, Kenya the opportunity improve their farms, crops and quality of life.

Why Hearts for Kenya needs your help
Hearts4Kenya will use your gift to directly provide the people of Oyugis, Kenya with hybrid seed for crops, fertilizer and irrigation equipment, salaries for local staff at the Co-op offices and training centers. Hearts4Kenya has embarked on a five-year plan to support these efforts and depends on gifts like yours to follow through.

So little can provide so much
There are many reasons a little money in the hands of Hearts for Kenya will go a long way. One of these is that a much higher percentage of money invested in our programs will be going directly into the end need. Also, there is a far greater ability to function free of the numerous rules, restrictions, agency and governmental complexities that exist in other nations and with other organizations leaving a greater percentage of good being accomplished with fewer dollars.
